Dr. Antonio María de Lacy Fortuny

An international consultant in General and Digestive System Surgery, Dr. Lacy was the first surgeon in Spain to perform Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic surgery (NOTES) to extract a gallbladder orally (2007), or to use Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) in Obesity Surgery (2009), and to extract a rectal tumor through the anus (2010). He is currently recognized worldwide as a pioneer and expert in colon and rectal cancer surgery, bariatric surgery for morbid obesity and esophagus cancer surgery, among others, using minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery. Dr. De Lacy, is a Professor of Surgery and Surgical Specialties at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona. He Leads and gives international courses on advanced colorectal and bariatric (obesity surgery) laparoscopic surgery. His proffisional experience includes being the Founder and Specialist in General and Digestive Surgery at the Lacy Surgical Institute, at Quirónsalud Hospital Barcelona, in addition to heading the Gastrointestinal Surgery Unit at Barcelona Hospital Clinic
