Dr. Francesc Bosch Albareda

Director of the Hematology Unit
Dr. Bosch directs the Hematology Unit of the Baselga Oncology Institute (IOB) together with Dr. Armando López-Guillermo. A specialist in lymphomas and chronic lymphatic leukemia, he has achieved, together with his team, innovations in new technologies for the analysis of hematological diseases and new treatments for these types of diseases. Dr. Bosch is responsible for protocols in working groups such as the Group for the Study of Catalano-Balearic Lymphomas (GELCAB), the Spanish Group of Lymphomas and Transplants of Bone Marrow (GELTAMO), the Program for the Study of Therapeutics in Malignant Homeopathy (PETHEMA). He is also the coordinator of the Spanish Group for Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (GELLC). Dr. Bosch graduated in Medicine from the University of Barcelona (UB) in 1988 with an Extraordinary Degree Award. He specialized in Hematology and Hemotherapy at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (1988-1992) and then made a stay at Columbia University in New York. In 1998 he obtained his doctorate (UB) with the thesis “Overexpression of the CCND1 gene in chronic lymph proliferative syndromes”, with which he obtained the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. He is the author of research articles in publications such as “Medicina Clínica”, Journal of Hematology and Oncology, Cancer, British Journal of Hematology, Blood and Annals of Oncology and has given lectures and presentations at various national and international conferences.
