Dr. Mireia Ruiz Castillo

Dr. Ruiz is a specialist in Plastic Surgery and a Doctor in Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She has extensive experience in the medical-surgical management of breast pathology, skin oncology, burns, facial fractures, hand surgery and alterations in skin coverage, both with the use of conventional and microsurgical techniques. She has been a member of the surgical team that has performed the two face transplants at the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, one of them the first total face transplant in the world. Dr.Ruiz is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, of the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and of the Catalan Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, as well as a collaborating professor at the UAB. She has made multiple presentations at international conferences and is the author of several publications in scientific journals of the specialty and specialized books. Dr.Ruiz is considered among the 5 best plastic surgeons in Spain according to Forbes magazine in 2018 and 2019, and she is considered also among the best reviewers of Burns magazine in 2017.
